Anyone else following this story and have any speculations on what happened? The timeline law enforcement has publicly presented seems pretty solid. I think if anything, it shows us if you have a door camera, to subscribe to some sort of service that saves data in case someone disables the camera.

I'm having very low expectations that she's going to be found alive at this point. The family was insistent that she was on medication that if not given every 24 hours, would result in dire consequences (my words, not theirs).

I mean, for what reason would someone kidnap an 84-year old woman? Is it for money? Or some sort of sick revenge?

Do you think law enforcement knows more than they're alluding they do to throw off the kidnapper(s)?

The whole Guthrie family must be devastated not knowing where their matriarch is and if she's suffering or not.

I have seen it and the pleas for her safe return. I seem to recall the family stated… "we’re listening"? So almost like they are pleading for contact from the kidnappers.

Very sad. Especially if there are no ransom demands.

I think the kidnappers have issued a ransom note via a third party via local news stations? They keep reporting on two deadlines, one of which has already passed. They supposedly want ransom paid in cryptocurrency. The family wants proof that she's still alive so they've asked for direct contact with them. And that hasn't happened.

Again, the longer this goes on unsolved, the less likely I have hopes she will be found alive. I hope I'm wrong.

I live in AZ and we hear something almost everyday.

I pray for a happy outcome that her mom is returned alive.

On another note. When my niece went missing, it was horrifying to find people discussing her case like she was fodder for entertainment instead of a living, breathing person with family terrified and waiting. Waiting for any little bit of evidence that would help the FBI find her and bring her home. There were so many theories but callous people. Everyone wanted to join in on giving an opinion like they were signing up for a prize in a raffle. Some people were kind and just wished for the best. But others seemed to take delight in speculating and making up rumors. It was pretty traumatizing reading how awful people liked to speculate about another human being not coming home alive. We already knew the odds. This post seems awfully similar.

I can see how the speculation can be hurtful for a family member or close friend. I can also see how spitballing and speculation might possibly hit on something helpful that the authorities have not considered or found yet. Especially considering that some criminals are narcissistic (or crazy) enough to taunt the authorities and/or press when those theories are wrong, which may help them to be found. It's hard when a family trauma essentially becomes a big brainstorm session for the public and press. I guess one has to accept that if they care enough to speculate, it's the thought that might count?

I do think it's just awful when people send false ransom notes or tips to muddy the minds that should be on real clues and tips.
